Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, is a city steeped in history and charm. Dominated by the majestic Edinburgh Castle, perched on a volcanic hill, the city offers a captivating blend of medieval and Georgian architecture. The Royal Mile, an iconic street, connects the castle to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the royal residence. The Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is filled with cobblestone alleys, traditional pubs, and legends. The New Town enchants visitors with its elegant shops and well-maintained gardens. For a panoramic view, climbing Arthur’s Seat, an ancient volcano, is a must. Edinburgh is also renowned for its annual festival, the Fringe, a major artistic event.
New Update:
Starting from March 5, 2025, European nationals will be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to travel to the UK.
What is the ETA?
An ETA grants permission to travel to the UK. It allows the holder to stay in the UK for up to 6 months at a time within a 2-year period, or until the passport expires (if valid for less than 2 years). It can be used for tourism, visiting family and friends, business trips, or short-term studies. An ETA is also required for transiting through the UK. However, it is a travel authorization, not an entry permit.
The cost of an ETA is £10.
